We have a vacancy for a computer technician starting soon who's main role will be to support customers' servers. These servers run various versions of Microsoft Small Business Server, and the successful candidate will need to have some (but not very detailed) knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Login scripts, etc... so you need to know at least what some of these things are!

Since SoftLink is a small company, you will also be required to support domestic cutomers, build PC's and so on. It is a very varied job. You will be required to give telephone help and deal with customers face-to-face, so some sort of communications skills on a higher level than grunting will be necessary.

Since the computers are at customers' sites and you will need to fetch and carry computer equipment, you will need a car. We pay mileage at 40p per mile. Making sure the car is insured for business use is your responsibility. If you can't drive then don't apply, if you can drive but don't have a car then we might be able to come to some sort of company car arrangement, but it won't be wonderful.

Pay will be £14400 p.a initially rising to £16200 p.a.at the end of the trial period. Working Hours are 9am to 5pm but if you are at a customers' site and there is a job that needs finishing you will be expected to stay. You will get time back later. Holidays are 20 working days + Bank Holidays.
